Job Description

This position is responsible for installing, supporting and maintaining in-house computer systems, desktops, printers, voice communications equipment, Wi-Fi system, video monitoring equipment, and other peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and assistance where required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responds to user requests for technical assistance either via Help Desk, telephone or in person. Troubleshoots the problem and resolves the issue. Records the incident using help desk software.

  • Configures hardware and / or peripherals including printers, hand held units, scanners, etc. to maintain network compatibility and software compatibility.
  • Configures software products, including MS Office Suite and Navis terminal operating system as required Installs upgrades to software products on user machines and on servers.
  • Performs less complex hardware repairs including changing out hard drives, and moving files from one computer to another.
  • Provides users with replacement hardware and / or peripherals as necessary to replace broken or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of IT equipment and spare parts, and ensures that all equipment is accounted for.
  • Maintains information on telephone extensions, fax extensions and all administrative information related to the phone system.
  • Supports users and answers basic questions on the use of MS Office products including software questions. May provide training if appropriate. Orients new users to the email system and other software and personal computer configuration.
  • Provides “on-call” (after hours, weekends & holidays) support as necessary.
  • Performs all other duties as requested.

Experience

  • College Degree – Computer Science/Information Technology
  • 3-5 years in a PC support role
  • CompTIA A+ Certification
